Listening to The Beatles channel on Sirius, I caught a few minutes of an interview discussing when the Beatles, along with so many of our beloved musicians of their time, were making their way. The interviewee was involved in the industry during the early days of the Beatles. He mentioned that the music scene was primed, waiting, and ready for these artists. The quote that resonated with me was this:
“Some bands were making it; some would make it in the following year or the next. We just needed to be patient because we were all in the right place at the right time.”
I consider this unique time on Substack to be a parallel. We are here in these early years, which allow for immense growth. It’s special. We may be the first groups to emerge, the second wave, or the third, but I believe if we have talent, apply ourselves week in and week out, and stay the course, we have the potential to end up like so many of those big bands we all love to this day.
Let’s stay the course and remind ourselves that everyone can’t get in the lifeboat at the same time and that Substack is not the Titanic. There are plenty of boats available. Let’s have fun, be great at whatever we enjoy writing about, and wait for our turn to shine—or, better stated, keep shining until it’s our turn.
Thank you - just the encouragement I needed today!
Short and you said so much with the Beatles' analogy. Thanks for having the knack to put into words things I think about but can't express.
