Monday morning cup of thoughts
if God were to send a wink your way encouraging your dream or resolving your problems, what would that look like?
I’m reading a book copyrighted in 2001 by Squire Rushnell titled “when God winks” about how the power of coincidence guides our lives. These thoughts captured me in an early chapter.
Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. Wish I may, wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.
As a child, you trusted that every wish uttered into a sparkling nighttime sky would come true. As a child, you had the clarity to see possibilities, unencumbered by rational thought. You were able to trust in the future without reservation.
At what age did you conclude that wishes were merely childish things? Who told you to “grow up” and robbed you of your dreams?
Let’s reclaim your childhood faith in wishes, and let’s take it one step further to believe in yourself. Believe that if you wish for something, it can happen. Believe that you can be the “somebody” you wished you could be. Believe that you can change something about yourself that doesn’t satisfy you.
When it comes to wishes, maybe it’s time to stop being such a grownup, time to return to that state of mind when imagination allowed you the absolute freedom to ask for the impossible, the impractical, and the inconceivable.
Isn’t this absolutely lovely?… an invitation to close our eyes and dream.
More about God winks on Friday.
Ahhh, the winks are ever-changing — I have to pay attention!😉
My Grandmother always told us to trust in God’s bigger plan. I love the line from John Lennon’s song Beautiful Boy, “ Life is What Happens When We Are Busy Making Other Plans”.
