I don’t love you despite your weaknesses. Actually, I love you because of them. Fallibility invites me in, for I am imperfection personified. Your shortcomings open doors for me to bare my soul, be unafraid of judgment, lower my defenses, create a genuine connection, and soar toward my dreams.
We don’t arrive in this lifetime knowing all the answers. We come here to learn them. We’ve been admitted to the University of Life, the ultimate teaching academy.
What we do with that blessing is up to us.
Do we love our mate/children/parents/friends because they are perfect?
NO. And that’s an unequivocal no.
We love them nonetheless. We need to love ourselves unconditionally, nurture ourselves sweetly, and support ourselves fervently, just as we do our loved ones.
