The holiday marks the beginning of summer, providing an excellent excuse for hotdogs, hamburgers, and endless sales. Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, so I wonder about the journey of celebration this day has taken on over the years. Perhaps the great undoing of our country currently on display has me pondering the subject of Memorial Day. Whatever the reason, I feel melancholy on this last Monday of May and need to put my feet in the soil and reconnect with Mother Earth. I send namaste to all those who have lost loved ones over the years in pursuit of liberty and justice for all.Â
I’ll be back on Friday with my Final Friday Roundup.
I agree, Sue. There’s a prevailing air of melancholy and sadness. For those who gave their service and lives and for each of us facing tumult and uncertainty.
Grounding ourselves in our practices, our values and Nature is good medicine.
I agree!
