Absolutely beautiful, Sue! I have a hard time letting people go, but you’re right--they may come back around. One in particular did, and he’s the reason my son is in a wonderful treatment program right now.
Aww, I love that. I've tried to keep people close all my life, just because I too have a hard time letting go. I remember crying when I left outdoor ed in fifth grade, so sad that I wouldn't be able to stay with my new campmates. Nothing's changed much in all these years except I have come to trust in God/universe. This post seems to have resonated with many of my readers, and me as well. You and I are not alone in wanting to hold on tight. 💟
A lovely story, Sue. I can relate, because we here in Florida have similar relationships with friends and relatives and even strangers. Hurricanes are our main threat, and there's always someone ready to help those who are in danger or who have been hurt.
Yes! We got one offer, and they took us, our dog, and my hawk! A friend of my daughter's, a woman she hasn't seen in years, offered to help us evacuate. It's a weird world, isn't it? That is so heartening.
Then today I got a frantic message from a woman whose artwork I admire and who permitted me to use a drawing on a Handbook I put out a few years ago. I have never met her, but I bought a lithograph and I wrote a review of her book. Today, she emailed me about a friend's daughter who has cancer and she needs to send her a gift card for her birthday, but she's traveling, could I buy the gift card? She'd like to call, but her phone has been smashed (she doesn't have my phone number anyhow.) She'd reimburse me. I said I'd help, but since I'm a cautious soul, could she reassure me it was her, and tell me about our last transaction? She sent back a great Thanks! Could I send a $350 gift card to x x x.
Oh my gosh, I didn't expect that ending, ha! Yes, you're right, we must always be cautious. I love that your friends took you in, dog and hawk and all, that's very kind. 💟
This post is sweet and moving. Having lived under potential evacuation orders as an out of control burned its way through thousands of acres close by, we know the feelings of helplessness and overwhelm...and what a wonderful thing it was to have one of my daughters call and say “hey Dad, I am on my way with my big truck and trailer to help you pack up ...
You bet! That's sweet. Three of our four kids live out of state, but their daily calls and texts were comforting. We even had one zoom call for my daughter's birthday with the tankers flying overhead throughout, exciting! 💟
Those of us who love you we always keep you in our thoughts and hearts. When times like this happen it always reminds me of the song”That’s What Friends are For”.

It's always the people who matter, not the stuff.
Loved this one too!
Thank you, Lynette. 💟

I'm sure you can relate completely! There are many angels among us! 💟

So beware! Not everybody's what they seem.

Aww, I love that song. I'll have that in my head today! Thank you, my friend, for your loyal support always, fire or no fire! 💟
It’s not by accident that so many people love you and Rick♥️
Thank you, Janet. We are very blessed. 💟
That's for sure, Delaine!
