Thank you for your kind words. Our friendship means so much to me. We have travels many roads together. One of the last said Ron said to me when he was dying was that all that matters in life is who we love and who loves us back. He also told me I was to young (41) to be alone after his death at age 46. He said he would send me someone to special to love. A few years later, Mel entered my life. I have been blessed to have spent the last 28 years with Mel. In the end, Ron was right, all that truly matters in life is love.

I remember that. I also remember Ron joking telling you next time marry for money. Funny guy. I'm so happy that you and Mel found each other. You deserve nothing but the best. Please be sure to tell Mel to read the comments, lots of people were very moved by his words. And happy birthday early to you my dear friend. Wishing you a wonderful celebration! 💟

Belated happy birthday, Sue! Cheeky question - have you ever done the maths? My birthday was just a few days before yours - and I'll never forget the day (relatively recently) when I worked out that I'm very likely to be the result of a romantic Valentine's Day encounter...! 😉

I didn't know whether to be amused or horrified! I think I was both, with a side-order of cringe! I did a spot of writing about it, but it wasn't ready for this year's birthday so I've mothballed that post until next November.

I love your writing - I'm about to hit 'Subscribe'.

Rebecca, thanks for subscribing! I too like your writing. I haven't done the math, but I'd bet they met in a bar perhaps drowning their Valentine's sorrows. How's that for cringe-worthy info? There's so much I haven't written about regarding our little family of three. I think I'll take your lead and mothball that until I'm ready.

Thanks, Sue! Ah, if history could talk - I'm enjoying giving words to some of mine, but not every story needs to get out there! I'm quite selective, really... 🙂

Happy Birthday Sue! I hope you were able to spend this day doing something you really enjoy.

.....and I wish all the best to your friend Steve. As you mention, I just survived my own little encounter with cancer. It can often be a tough fight, but it’s a fight that can be won.

And I do agree with you assessment of my wife, and your old friend, Lynn. She IS a gem and I am a lucky man....and I know it!

Once again, Happy Birthday and I look forward to reading more of your well crafted words.

Best,

Mel

My mom's birthday was on the 10th. She would have turned 88 yesterday. And yesterday was the finale of family legal wrangling. She had her signature on the pages cosmically. The day prior I went by the house she lived in the last 52 years of her life. I got to meet the gentleman who bought and transformed it; a dream catcher over the door to her master bedroom. I have the dream catcher on my front door that I gave her in the 90s that hung in the corner above her side of the bed. I heard how her energy is still reconciling her time there. I love your garden and the gifts you have been given and given to yourself and your loved ones. Breathtaking! I used to perform as the Birthday Princess in the 80s. My mom always made a big deal about birthdays. Reading Mel's comment helped me understand and honor my lover these past 27 years who is now 79. I know who I am to him and that is enough. I counted every hour we had together in the beginning, knowing it would not last. It has lasted and deepened. I wish you the happiest of birthdays. May this joy you feel and shared with us, your beloved circle of readers, innervate every single day of this coming year with light, love, and lyrical energy. May you feel it's strength, purpose, direction, and the humming of your creativity's continuous birth and rebirth!

Oh, and I wanted to tell you, your comments about my parenting a few weeks back meant more than I can say. I've tucked those away and will revisit them every now and then. Thank you again. 💟

Soul Sistah. I'm so glad the words that flow through me to you, keep flowing to your sacred spots and even during the days when you feel the most human, the most doubt. It is a challenge in the body, to doubt that which lives in the body, but mostly to doubt the body. I've examined parenting from a place of grace. Not having a child, not having the day by day with a child, remembering being parented, learning how my parents were parented, watching people parent... I really understand what it takes to do it right. Even though there is no right or wrong as we can always be on the path to being better, you DO IT RIGHT! Not trite!

Happy Birthday, Sue. You don't look a minute over 39! One of my BFFs is a Scorpio. I am thrilled you and Lynn will get together. Mel has trumped my day with his words of birthday wisdom. I will be quoting him today. Your trees take my breath away. Your writing today is superb. I thank my lucky stars Substack exists. You have created a home here in your Tales space. I look forward to the 'I have published an entry' alert. Thanks for all of your help especially the last couple of days! I have to tell you reading this first thing this morning made my day! Such a positive kind person you are. Sharing and caring. I wish you all the luck, love, and happiness in the coming year. ❤️
