I love hellebores, aka lenten roses. They started blooming here in February, and maybe sooner if I had paid attention. What hardy beacons of spring days ahead.
Yes, they aren't all the common, although they are in the nurseries if you know to look for them. They actually do well in shade, which is why I began using them in my gardens as I love flowers and not that many flowering plants like shade. Also the deer don't eat them.
