I grew up in a small town, Stillwater, Okla. We stayed at Yost Lake during the summer. On the 4th of July they would have a small parade and activities like turtle racing afterward. It was a great small community just like Cool. I hope to make it to the parade on the 4th.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I love it.

Thank you, Trula, for sharing yours! One of the things I like most about writing is when my readers share their own experiences. It makes for some lovely imagery. Turtle racing, I love it! 💜

This brought tears to my eyes. Brought back 4th of July memories. When I was a kid I was in the parade as a Brownie then a Girl Scout. Nothing like hearing the cadence of the drums marching down Main Street. I looked at my town’s website. No parade. The fire department is still made up of volunteers. Only one place having fireworks in the entire county. The hoisting on your shoulders is priceless. The painting nostalgic. Thank you so much for sharing your memories. Excellent excuse to go out to eat, as if we really need a reason. As kids going out to eat with family of 7 was not cheap. Back then you received your beverage with no refills. Have a great time. ❤️🌵😎

It brought a few tears to my eyes as well as I was writing. Reminiscing reminds me of how much has changed, and what we have lost, but also how resilient we all can be if we put our minds to it. Hope you enjoy your 4th, Vicki, in whatever way makes you happy! 💜
