When I first read this response, I wasn't sure which post you were referring to, so I just hearted your response. Now I see it was this post, and yes, yes!! I have actually thought about you as I've been working through the course. There are many people in the group that have tried it numerous times, and are reading it once again. I can see why, as it will affect everyone differently and there is so much to gain, that you likely could read it once a year and take something different away each time. I'm loving it. I hope you will consider re-reading it, perhaps joining our group. We are only two weeks in, and Ali is open to newcomers joining in. It's nice to have the group to bounce ideas off of and gather support. If you are interested, I can send you an email or link to officially join us! There have been a few join in after the commencement date. 💜
Yes! This is one of my favorite passages from the entire book. Love love love. I read this quote in many of the Yoga for Creatives classes and writing & yoga workshops I teach:
"In times of pain, when the future is too terrifying to contemplate and the past too painful to remember, I have learned to pay attention to right now. The precise moment I was in was always the only safe place for me. Each moment, taken alone, was always bearable.
In the exact now, we are all, always, all right. Yesterday the marriage may have ended. Tomorrow the cat may die. The phone call from the lover, for all my waiting, may not ever come, but just at the moment, just now, that's all right. I am breathing in and out. Realizing this, I began to notice that each moment was not without its beauty.
The reward for attention is always healing. More than anything else, attention is an act of connection."
Like minds, Ali. I'm so grateful to you that you invited us all to be a part of your journey. The lessons are profound in the book, my Julie is dancing in the heavens that I have finally found my way to the Artist's Way. And I on earth am pretty doggone excited as well. I loved your post about snowboarding. Embrace that joy! And Yoga for Creatives? I need to hear more about that! xo 💟
equanimity, in meditation or life, trains us to perceive without resisting or opposing, to be in the moment, unleashes the profound depth of 'now'. when life 'throws life' at us, we can find a center, breathe and proceed, with joy, fascination, and certainty. I like the surfer's metaphor, https://www.sahilbloom.com/newsletter/the-surfer-mentality.. PS nicely crafted dear Sue.!
Thanks for sending that surfer's metaphor, I love it. I also shared it with my surfer boy, Jordan. I'm sure he will love it. "When life 'throws life' at us" love that phrase. To receive without resisting or opposing requires practice, a lifetime of practicing actually. PS grateful for you dear Kurt!
Thank you, I needed to read this right now. Today I got a Diagnosis of osteoporosis.
Porous bones I thought to myself, what will break next?
I allowed a PTSD pity party, then shook it off and told myself I need Louise Hay and her affirmations as I continue to exercise not just my healing hip, but my patience muscle also.
I can’t wait to get back to doing bone density yoga with Susannah on YouTube.
Awww, Gail, that's not what I'm sure you wanted to hear. I'm glad you allowed the pity party, and you may need to visit with those folks from time to time, aka crying, which as you know, I'm an advocate of. But given the fact that one day in you are waiting to get back to bone density yoga asap, I have no doubt you will prevail. And interestingly/coincidentally, today I went to the movies, in an actual theater. I can't even remember the last time I did that. I saw 80 to Brady, a fun movie. And Sally Field was amazing, actually for me she stole the show. It's been so long since I've enjoyed watching her on screen. She is as amazing/entertaining/funny and attractive as ever. She's 76 and has had osteoporosis since she was 60. When you are up to it, take yourself to the movies, or watch it online. You're now armed with the knowledge of what you are fighting. That's half the battle. I will be lighting my candle. You got this. 💟
I’ve been awake since before five. Did a little journaling, surrounding V-Day—how we always need marks in the halls to denote the passage of yet another month in our lives. Depressing actually, but I put it on paper and got it out of my system.
Then I saw your reply to me. How wonderful to go to the movies! I’ve been seeing blurbs on that movie and I love those women and all in one place together! You’ve given me inspiration. I am going to have to take myself on a date!
Thank you for this and I think I have watched every show Sally Fields has ever been in starting with Gidget then the Flying Nun!
If she’s had osteoporosis since 60, she is a power of example and my new hero!
I love Sally as well, and too have seen anything she's been in. You will enjoy the movie, and especially your new hero. I hope you can get out for that date soon!!!🥰
Dear One...thank you for the amazing quotes of profound wisdom, so well spoken and so apt to our time. I made the startling discovery long ago that the present moment has sanctuary in its now ness, a sense of stillness, higher perspective and safety that is always waiting for us if and when we can shift into simply being HERE NOW. In fact, the present is infinite once we enter its stream of nowness...for this reason, i am continuously bringing myself into the present. The more I do, the more peaceful serenity I feel. I have learned that the only time and space where we can come into the living presence of God is in this very present moment. How sweet it is to be aware of this and to practice every day...on every breath.
I should go back through that book. I’m not sure I ever finished it!

Interesting! How does the group work?
I'll take this offline and email you now.
Let me know that you received my email, thanks!

It definitely takes practice! 💟
