Working through The Artist's Way. I am eight weeks in, with only four remaining. While it has been a time commitment, it has been well worth every moment spent.
Here's my favorite lesson in the last few days. It's elementary.
Treating myself like a precious object will make me strong.
This week's chapter asked the reader to use this mantra daily for a week. I didn't think much of it at first. But I did my homework. I began writing it every day. After about three days, I started to pick the mantra apart. I selected a precious object in my mind's eye. I thought about how best to care for it.Â
Simple answers.Â
Keep your treasure in a safe environment that protects it.
Guard it against people who might deface, mistreat or damage it.
Admire and celebrate its beauty.
Be grateful for your treasure.
Once I put a definition to the suggested mantra, I realized the profound wisdom offered. Inner strength begins and ends with how we treat ourselves.
This is beautiful. I love the mantra. Reminding us that we are precious objects and to take care of ourselves. By taking care of ourselves in mind, body, and spirit makes us strong. We ARE precious objects!!
This is beautiful. I think self care can start with little things like really listening to your body. Going to the bathroom when your body is telling you it needs a bathroom break, eating what you really want when you are hungry or putting lotion on your hand when they are dry. Baby steps help to start us on the road to self care.
