That's how it's supposed to go. We never even get a tiny bloom, not even a seedling. It never grows because the birds pluck the seeds out of the soil. None of our neighbors have this problem. We'll figure it out. I think we just need what you said, a myriad of seeds to feed a myriad of birds, with some left over to grow into flowers. 💜
Sorry for shouting. I LOVED THIS. Every word, every syllable even. The image of your Aunt is awesome! I much prefer your personal journey like this story over the words of other authors! You are so real! So open and giving of your stuff you think and go through. Oh, and need I mention a terrific writer?! Thanks for spiffing up my Friday. It was all downhill until I read this! xoxo
Vicki, I can't tell you how much it pleases me that this essay touched you on a day you needed it. Thank you for sharing your story. I plan to upload it to Notes. 💜💜💜
Sunflowers! I love them too. I had a garden full of them at our old house. Now that we've downsized, we are building a new garden (but fence first), so next season it will be ready for planting and I know for sure I'm going to have at least a row of sunflowers of various kinds. Lovely story. Look forward to part 2. :)
Thanks, Kim! We haven't had good luck growing sunflowers for some reason. The birds seem to get to the seeds before they can germinate. We will be trying again next season! 💜
It is so wonderful how the universe constantly sends us signs and gives us gifts. Many years ago my son got married in August. We gave him and his bride to be a set amount of money towards their wedding. My daughter had been dating her now husband for a few years but there was no talk of marriage. I thought this would give us time to put the same amount of money aside for her when that day came. Well a month later she got engaged and planned to get married eight months later. I had no idea where that money would come from. A few weeks later I got a check in the mail from an account my late husband had had and that I didn’t know about. The check was for the same amount we had given her brother plus a few dollars more. I knew my late husband Ron had sent that check from above. We laughed and cried when I told her Daddy Ron just paid for your wedding.
Sun flowers and favorite aunts ... lovely!
Thank you, Joyce!
I love God winks and sunflowers!
Love this❤️ Can’t wait for Part 2. ❌⭕️❌⭕️
Thank you dear friend! 💜
Lovely story and your Auntie sounds like a beautiful person.
Thank you, Patricia, she was! 💜
I loved this! I treasure the few times I got to spend time with Aunt Lura—she had such a good heart. I can’t wait to read next week’s installment.
PS—Dad planted sunflowers and lopped them when they were ready to feed to the myriad of birds who visited him.
