I always feel like there are never enough words of praise and gratitude for our first responders, but sister, you nailed. Amen to all you’ve so eloquently stated. 🥰
Sue, this is a fabulous tribute to all who have contributed to this devastating fire. The boys and girls who grow up to be firefighters are a rare kind of wonderful. I like the pitcher with the plant in it a lot. "there's nothing simple about the depth of my gratitude". I felt that with every single word in this piece.
These firefighters risk there lives and safety often. They run into situations were others are running out. Having been married to a firefighter for several years, I often heard first hand stories of medical rescues, traffic accident tragedies and fire suppression. They are called to leaks at chemical companies, basic rescues and many more situations. God bless each and every one of them as well as their families who support their work and sacrifice family time to keep us all safe.
I remember that San Bruno explosion. We were living in a 17th floor apartment right off the Embarcadero in San Francisco when that happened. We kept close watch on the news-reporting and held our breath. Such a scary time.

Firefighters and all emergency responders are truly angels on earth. Their bravery and selflessness are a gift to us all.
Yes, they are. 💟
