I love that you're still trying to capture magic in a title. I don't think any of the choices are that much better than "Tales of." I wonder what would happen if you started with "A Wayward Yogini" and then added a verb ... wonders..., reflects..., pontificates (!)..., tattles..., confesses..., chuckles ..., dreams ..., wishes ..., predicts ..., foresees ..., wanders ..., remembers ..., giggles ..., gossips ..., lights a lamp ..., stirs a pot ..., ignites a fire ..., ... ... ... and so on.
Oh, that's interesting. Thank you, you always are creative in your ideas! Not sure where this will end, but I'm sure having fun just going back and forth with my readers! I appreciate your thoughts very much!
Ah, Sue, you're going down the road I did a few weeks ago with my title. After some amazing suggestions I decided to keep Sage Sanctuary.
I happen to love your current title. As a writer you tell tales, you share wisdom, you tell stories. The wayward part of the title suggests to me that you're not perfect, that you've wandered off the path at times, and as a yogi, and more importantly as a reader, I relate to life being a journey where we meet ourselves at different junctures; sometimes veering off the path we thought we were on and then finding our way back.
Having said that, if you felt called to add something, what if you added Tales and Life Tips From a Wayward Yogini. Also, Joyce's flip of the title is is very intriguing.
I thought of you. I'm glad you like my current title, and your input is helpful. I will enjoy playing with all these ideas going forward, but I may end this journey just as you did yours, keeping my original title. I've learned a lot from the feedback I've received. Looking forward to talking soon!
Thank you, Terry. I appreciate your feedback. I had someone who doesn't follow me comment that my title left him with no idea what my Substack is about. That struck a chord with me. If you were not familiar with my writing or my subject matter, do you think my title would draw you in? Or asked a different way, what do you expect from a Substack titled "musings" or "tales"? Thanks in advance for your support! 💚
I don't think I am the right person to ask: look at the title of MINE! I liked the word "tales" because ( a) it suggests stories and (b) it goes with yogini. I expect yogis and yoginis to tell stories that have meaning. Musings sounds too unsure to me
Actually, you are a wonderful person to ask-- that's a great answer. Thank you. I will consider that. And "reflections" tells me I will be reading about your thoughts on literature, it's very clear. I just looked up tales and found this, a fictitious or true narrative or story, especially one that is imaginatively recounted. That definition is delightful. Thanks for participating in the poll. Have a great weekend.
I remember a while back that you had been thinking of changing yours, Terry. I really like 'Eclecticism: Reflections on literature, writing and life', and glad you've stuck with it.
Thank you, my friend! This has been an interesting and enjoyable poll hearing from my readers. And sending an extra thank you for restacking my post! That's so helpful for my Substack as it helps create new readers. Hope you are enjoying your well-deserved weekend. 💚💚💚
Hi Sue. It wouldn't let me vote (kept asking me to subscribe first and I'm already subscribed!) Oh well, I was going to vote for "Insights from a WY", but only because I couldn't vote for Tales of... I agree with Joyce, that none of the others really are much different than Tales of... I can relate to "wayward yogini," so I can only imagine the 'tales' will be related to life stuff of someone trying to encompass all the yogini-ness of life, but getting sidetracked (as most of us do!) I didn't know anything about your Substack, but your title completely attracted me. Was the person who didn't get it Klaus from Germany?? He didn't get alot of them. I told him he was the Simon Cowell of Substack. lol.
I've been taking some workshops with Courtney Maum, she's suggested sub-titles if you want to add more of a descriptor. Just a thought. But, I think your title will attract the exact right subscribers for you. They will get it, or be curious enough to click through to see a bit more. If you're short description fills in the rest, I think you're golden.
But, in the end, its what works best for you and what YOU like best.
Kim, thank you so much for sending this. Not sure why it wouldn't let you vote. So, yes, it was Klaus, lmao!!! He really threw me off, especially because working with Sarah this last week there was a huge emphasis on the title of our stack and how clear it is what the reader will get. Talk about the planets aligning. Although Sarah didn't say I needed to change MY name, I of course was giving my name thought. I'm actually happy though to have conducted the poll as I learned a lot about the title, what people do think about it, and I'm not sure now if I will change it. I'll wait until all the opinions come in, but I will take your ideas into account for sure. Thanks so much again!!! It takes a village. Simon doesn't get a vote next time! :)
I definitely like the two with the most votes right now best. Wellness is so overused. But I like your current title. I thought several times about changing the name of my newsletter. I also would like to come with something to call it besides the newsletter. I mean, I’m not sending out news. So far and alternative has alluded me.
Oooooh, now I chose not to vote in the poll, Sue, because I love 'Tales of a Wayward Yogini', and I would miss it. I've been a subscriber for quite some time, and I love that I associate your - Sue Ferrera's - writing with the newsletter name 'Tales of a Wayward Yogini'. I see it as part of your Substack identity.
I'm not sure that changing the title to '(New word) of a Wayward Yogini' would be very much of a difference. And if you asked me about the two choices 'Tales of a Wayward Yogini' and 'Wayward Yogini' I would struggle to decide!
Either way, I love your writing and I love your newsletter! 😘

Just keep having fun.
I agree!!!

Yes, the process was ultimately fun and enlightening. Enjoy.
I prefer the present title

How about "Musings of a Wayward Yogini"?
I considered that! Thanks! And welcome home!!! Your trip looked amazing!
Thanks, Sue! It was a dream come true! So much great food, art, architecture, scenery, music and people!
Tales of a life well lived
Tales of insight and hope
Tales of wellness and enlightenment

Insights from WY
Thanks, my friend! 💚
What ever you decide - I will be reading it.
Oh, thank you Janice for your kind words! 💚
I like Insights from a WY.
I'd stick with "tales.' It gives you more room to explore.
Thanks, Sallie!
