What a great story. My grandparents had a "Mom and Pop Grocery Store" on Hugo Street in San Francisco. My father worked there for a number of years until he went to work for Oroweat Bread. They did what Rick's family did by renting then selling. So much history. Best of luck with the new adventure.

Love the mom and pop grocery store! You are correct, so much history that our parents' generation shares. Thanks, Bill, for reading and commenting! It means a lot. 💚

I love this story and the pride you have in your husband and his lineage.

It is unfortunate that big box stores swallowed up so many good small businesses.

During the Great Pause of 2020, a friend of mine gathered small businesses together in a fb group and called on our city to support them.

It was a raving success. Then she started a BOSS group for the small business owners to learn from one another, helping people shift and diversify.

Small businesses are truly the lifeblood of community.

I also appreciated the antique cars in the photo.
