I. Love. Apricots.

Last year I was trying to tell someone I was having lunch with about a certain fruit and how much I liked it, and I couldn’t for the life of me think of the name of the fruit! We played 20 questions and neither she nor I could come closer to what it was I was trying to say. It wasn’t until around just after bedtime, when I sat bolt upright and remember—APRICOT! Now whenever I have a lapse in memory I tell people I’m having an “apricot” moment and I’ll get back with them later. LOL!

That's funny! I'm sure I'll remember that phrase going forward.

Tree ripened apricots is the only option! Have you tried Machado’s in Auburn?

Best wishes with the apricots. I once had an apricot in my back yard that had the best apricots. They ruined me for anything found in the stores. We made jam and apricot liquor ... both were phenomenal. Looking forward to hearing what you find.

Thanks, Joyce. I agree, the stores just don't have great apricots, which is why I'm heading down to the Davis area. We have planted two trees, but they just haven't fruited in three years. Maybe next year. We just added the second one this last year. I'll keep you posted.

Apricots! Many years ago, I was working for a music-audio mag, and to report on a recording session with Ali Akbar Khan, down in Santa Barbara, I had to drive down from Cool. I stopped on hwy 5 at a place that advertised apricots and treated myself to an apricot ice cream cone. It was the best, ever. Ever! That was in 1994. Thanks for reminding me. Now I'll spend my day with dream-cream on my lips!
