I love your post and the picture!

Every year I select a word for the year, and I create a vision board. One year I selected Reinvent. I wanted to move to California to be by our children and grandchildren. Within 3 months I was offered a job, and we moved. In 2020, I selected Trust. It became the word that helped me through my husband being in the hospital and then COVID.

I suggest to my yoga classes and groups this practice every year.

Love the image of you being in balance Sue. It’s a great word as it has so many connotations from the micro to the macro. 💓

Balance is such a beautiful word and guide.

Love the photo, too!

My phrase this year is going to be What do I want? I know, I know. So selfish. 😉 But no worries. What I often want is for others to thrive.

May the balance come to you with ease and grace and love.

I disagree, Holly. Not selfish at all. And to be perfectly honest, when we thrive, it's much easier to assist others to do the same. Kind of like putting on the oxygen mask before we help others :) Wishing you a year filled with what you want. 💕

I am rebellious at heart and obnoxious about resisting new years words or themes (😂😂😂) AND I haven’t been able to get the word “delight” out of my head whenever I sit down to write, reflect, or journal. I think it’s a combo of winter blues, midlife malaise, and political anxiety that causes me to fight for optimism and delight these days.

When I do Tree, I imagine I am a tree, my branches reaching towards the sky, ready for an eagle to land on the branches

Yes, I do something similar, thinking often about the strength and resilience of our ancient trees. Thanks for your comments. Also I will be doing my bookkeeping this week and get that donation off to you. Didn't want you to think it might be lost in the mail. I'll dm you when I send it. Cheers to your project!

I need better balance in my body. I do manage a good balance in my life but am debating on a new focus which would lend itself to a busier calendar. Looking for signs from G-d.

Great photo!

Perfect, I'm sure you will receive your signs. Life decisions are tricky. As our life span shortens, our priorities change.

A gorgeous pic, and such beautiful words along with it, dear Sue!

I've never chosen a word of the year - well, I've noodled around with the idea once or twice - but you've encouraged me to have a think.

Sooooooo..... mine is 'rest'. I mean, I've BEEN resting, but until fairly recently the fact I've been needing to has been a source of great frustration. But now? No, it's a choice, an active choice, because it's what my body and brain feel and need and want and CAN HAVE.

So, my word of the year is 'rest'. Doesn't mean I'm gonna rest for an entire year, not at all - but oh boy just granting myself permission to do so is everything.

You're such a star. Thank you for this post. Needed it. xxx

Rebecca, I could say the same about you being such a star!!! I'm so happy this post came at a good time for you. I was thinking of you just yesterday and planning to pm you to see how you were feeling. I've been wishing you well. Yes, please take good care and rest until you no longer need as much. A good friend of mine suffered from an auto immune disease over the last year or so. She is finally on the mend and feeling back to herself, but needed considerable rest for quite some time. We must honor our bodies if we want them to take us the distance. Permission granted!!! 💕

Oh, such lovely words - thank you, Sue! All is well in the grand scheme of things - I feel safe and loved, and there are much worse things to have than ‘no energy’. I’m waiting for a couple of endo tests, but if those come back clear I’m expecting to hear that it’s CFS.

You’re so kind. Thank you so much. x

I love this. I used to say to succeed we need four legs: love, place, work, friendship. We can suffer the temporary loss of one, maybe survive without two, but we really need all four, to be whole.
