Although Helen has indeed softened, and there is comfort in her arms, Suzy continues to sense a deep heartache within Helen. Entering her second year on Earth, Suzy feels anguish over her seeming inability to converse with God and the Angels. Her longing to be in their presence is profound, often leading to tears at night when she lies alone in her crib. Without their company and guidance, Suzy feels at a loss to assist Don and Helen.
Fortunately, at this juncture, Suzy embarks on the journey of learning how to walk, communicate with words, and eat. The joy of regaining these physical abilities is nothing short of bliss. Each new discovery expands her world, making it increasingly challenging to delve into sadness with so many thrilling experiences to relish.
The sensation of taste arrives, bringing with it a flood of memories regarding her favorite foods of past lifetimes and the way a flavor can linger on the tongue. Oh, how she has missed an aftertaste. She anticipates with delight once again experiencing the sweet and savory delicacies that can only be enjoyed in the human form.
The ability to transport herself from one place to another without assistance has arrived not a minute too soon. Suzy recalls how effortless it was to move through time and space on the heavenly plane, a simply euphoric experience. She instinctively understands that movement will be different and more labor-intensive on Earth, but nonetheless, she is still anxious to move independently.
And talking with loved ones has always been one of Suzy’s true delights. She has been waiting impatiently to regain the use of, in this lifetime, the English language.
The return to these human abilities instills a renewed excitement about this incarnation and a determination to resume her mission on Earth. God and the Angels rejoice in the heavens at her resilience and brainstorm ways to deliver Suzy’s first friend sooner rather than later, as well as a pet. It can be a difficult task for the Angels to connect their incarnates with other children before they are of school age. Typically, it must be arranged for the parents to connect, allowing their children to bond with one another. Helen doesn’t socialize much, so their task at hand will be a challenge, but they encourage one another knowing that divine guidance has its perks.
With Suzy walking, Don and Helen return to the beach on weekends. Suzy couldn’t be happier. Soon after, extended family members arrive from parts unknown, and these visitors are not to be feared as Jack was. Instead, Don and Helen welcome these people with open arms.
Suzy remembers the joy that filled the house when Grandma Kuhn and Uncle Jim (Helen’s mother and brother) visited. Helen smiled often in their presence and Suzy asks God if more family might come visit. Her prayers are answered not long after when three of her cousins arrive, Mary, Mike and Butch. These three instill an understanding of what friends might feel like.
Don begins to include Suzy in his yard work, sharing his love of nature with her. Helen’s melancholia continues to subside allowing her to embrace motherhood. Suzy and Helen travel to visit Grandma Kuhn for a second time. Her large porch with the big swing feels a bit like heaven.
God and the Angels watch over Suzy’s small family and their growing love for one another. At this juncture, they collectively take what on earth will come to be known as a deep yogini breath, comforted by the knowledge that they have equipped Don, Helen and Suzy with the many blessings of life on Earth to help them move through their upcoming and undoubtedly numerous hardships.
Excitedly they begin to count the days until Suzy meets her first friend.
